New program at Vance Thompson Vision could be the most life-changing gift given this year.

Vance Thompson Vision is proud to announce the establishment of Gift of Sight, a New Year’s event that hopes to enhance the vision of neighbors among us who need it the most.   

In January Dr. Vance Thompson and Dr. Alison Tendler will perform free laser vision correction procedures on 4 patients chosen by staff members as the result of a write-in nomination campaign. 

“We know that for some people, there are barriers to having laser vision correction. This program helps us give back to our community by allowing the community to select friends and neighbors that they feel need it most” says Vance Thompson, MD, Director of Refractive Surgery at Vance Thompson Vision.

While some nominees may not otherwise be able to afford laser vision correction, others may have living or working conditions that make wearing corrective lenses nearly impossible. “Financial need is only one aspect of what we’ll consider in the process” says Dr. Thompson. “Some people have other life-challenges that may be lightened by laser vision correction.”

“We trust that the people in the communities we serve understand who could benefit most from a program like this. That’s why we’ve placed the nomination process in their hands” says Alison Tendler, MD, Refractive Surgery Specialist at Vance Thompson Vision. “Everyone who submits reasons why someone they know deserves vision correction free of charge will be considered. It’s our way of letting these communities know how much they mean to us.”
