Dr. Gabrielle Anderson's passion for accessible, compassionate eye care was inspired by her upbringing. Her great-grandmother lost her vision due to retinitis pigmentosa and had no access to care. Despite this, she was able to raise her nine children and twelve grandchildren – including Dr. Anderson. While her great-grandma pushed on, so did Dr. Anderson with a clear vision: everyone should have access to eye care.
Dr. Anderson made meaningful strides at the Kentucky College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. While in school, she worked to increase access to eye care for low-income communities. She also supported the pediatric faculty and several optometric organizations by conducting school screenings for kindergarten through 5th grade students in rural areas throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky.
