Dr. Lindsey McDaniel is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Vance Thompson Vision in Kansas City who specializes in cataract, refractive, and glaucoma surgery.
Dr. McDaniel was drawn to medicine through her love of science, problem-solving, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in people's lives. Throughout her education and clinical training, she discovered that building meaningful relationships with patients was just as rewarding as practicing medicine. Ophthalmology ultimately stood out because it combines precision, innovation, and surgery with the opportunity to restore and preserve the gift of vision.
Dr. McDaniel believes every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and fully informed about their treatment options. She strives to combine advanced clinical and surgical care with a warm, personalized approach, taking the time to answer each patient's questions and helping them make the best decision for their vision and lifestyle. Her hope is that every patient leaves knowing they were genuinely cared for as a person.
Following her ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri, Dr. McDaniel completed glaucoma fellowship training at the University of Missouri before continuing her subspecialty training at Boston University Eye Associates. She has a special interest in the continued evolution of refractive cataract surgery and enjoys how advances in diagnostics, surgical technology, and intraocular lens design allow physicians to deliver more personalized vision outcomes for patients. Helping patients reduce their dependence on glasses while improving their quality of life is one of the most rewarding aspects of her practice.
Dr. McDaniel is also passionate about education and advancing the field of ophthalmology. She has served as an Instructor of Medicine at both Boston University and the University of Missouri and currently volunteers as faculty for the University of Kansas Department of Ophthalmology. She enjoys mentoring future physicians while helping advance patient care through innovation, education, and leadership.
Outside of work, Dr. McDaniel enjoys spending time with her husband, Marty, their daughter, Berkley, their son, Mack, and their rescue dog, Chevy. She enjoys traveling, cycling, running, golfing, baking, and exploring new places. Whether chasing new experiences or spending time outdoors with family and friends, she values creating meaningful experiences with the people she loves most.
