Meet Dr. Kramer
Dr. Brent Kramer’s list of accomplishments includes a fellowship at Duke University, serving as chief resident at the University of North Carolina, and receiving the ASCRS Foundation Resident Excellence Award. But one achievement may be less expected: winning South Dakota State University’s Centennial Hobo Days Beard Growing Contest as a student.
Dr. Kramer was born and raised on a farm near Ellsworth, Minnesota. After graduating summa cum laude from South Dakota State University with a degree in biology, he attended medical school at the University of Iowa. While there, he was invited to participate in the research distinction track, an opportunity that strengthened his belief in and dedication to medical advancements.
Dr. Kramer is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, along with many other professional associations. At Vance Thompson Vision, he specializes in refractive and LASIK surgery, cataract, cornea, glaucoma, and complex anterior segment surgery.

Dr. Kramer pursues excellence — often achieving it — in everything he attempts. He’s quick to share his knowledge with his peers and invest in others through a variety of teaching and research roles. Personal & Hobbies
Brent is the proud husband of Shanna and father to Eli, Ruby, and Wyatt. Outside the clinic, he enjoys cheering on Minnesota sports teams, exploring the outdoors, and losing plenty of golf balls on the course.
When it is not prime hunting time, he and his Vizslas, Nymeria and Hopper, patiently await pheasant season.
