Dr. Pethe chose a career in optometry because he wanted to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Throughout more than 20 years of caring for patients, he has found that one of the most important parts of providing exceptional care is listening. He believes "the patient knows their eyes best" and strives to ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and confident in the care they receive. Guided by honesty and integrity, his goal is to build trusted relationships while helping patients achieve their vision goals.
Dr. Pethe's clinical background includes cataract and refractive surgery co-management, medical eye care, and collaborative care with referring optometrists. His experience provides a strong foundation for evaluating and managing patients with cataract, glaucoma, cornea, and refractive conditions.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Pethe has served as an assistant adjunct clinical professor with Pacific University College of Optometry and as a preceptor for fourth-year optometric externs from the Illinois College of Optometry. He also enjoys staying current with advancements in cataract, glaucoma, cornea, and refractive surgery care, including innovations in intraocular lens technology.
Outside of work, Dr. Pethe enjoys spending time on the golf course, skiing, and fishing. An avid golfer, he's especially interested in golf course architecture, swing analytics, and the latest technology in the game. When he's not pursuing his own hobbies, you'll most likely find him and his wife, Amber, cheering on their four children, Tyler, Lillian, Amelia, and Griffin, at their many sporting events and activities. Their family also includes two energetic Australian Shepherds, Maple and Bear.
